Memory Verse Weekend!

With every Hills Kidz series, we focus on a scripture to memorize together. God tells us to hold His Word in our heart, and at the end of each series, we host “Memory Verse Weekend” where kids earn a prize for reciting the memory verse. Memory Verse Weekend takes place the last weekend of every month. This month’s verse is: Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God,’” Matthew 4:4 (NIV). Kids can earn their prize reciting it on January 28/29.

7 Prayers to Say with Your Children

SUNDAY: PRAY FOR LOVE THAT OVERFLOWS

“May the Lord make (child’s name)’s love grow. May it be like a rising flood. May your love for one another increase. May it also increase for everyone else. May it be just like our love for you.” 1 Thessalonians 3:12

MONDAY: PRAY FOR GROWTH IN KNOWLEDGE

“(child’s name)’s faith and love are based on the hope you have. What you hope for is stored up for you in heaven. You have already heard about it. You were told about it when the true message was given to you. I’m talking about the good news.” Colossians 1:5

TUESDAY: PRAY FOR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT REALLY MATTERS

“Don’t live the way this world lives. Let (child’s name)’s way of thinking be completely changed. Then you will be able to test what God wants for you. And you will agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2

WEDNESDAY: PRAY FOR A PURE AND BLAMELESS LIFE

“Don’t worry about anything. No matter what happens (child’s name),

tell God about everything. Ask and pray, and give thanks to him.” Philippians 4:6

THURSDAY: PRAY FOR THE FRUIT OF SALVATION

“Instead, the law of the Lord gives (child’s name) joy. They think about his law day and night. That kind of person is like a tree that is planted near a stream of water. It always bears its fruit at the right time. Its leaves don’t dry up. Everything godly people do turns out well.” Psalm 1:2-3

FRIDAY: PRAY FOR A RIGHTEOUS CHARACTER AND A LIFE IN JESUS

“But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace in (child’s name). It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful 23 and gentle and having control of oneself. There is no law against things of that kind.” Galatians 5:22-23

SATURDAY: PRAY FOR GLORY AND PRAISE TO GOD

“The Spirit marks us as God’s own. (child’s name) can now be sure that someday we will receive all that God has promised. That will happen after God sets all his people completely free. All these things will bring praise to his glory.” Ephesians 1:14
